Project Overview
Victorian based sports eld constructor “Berry Sports Fields Pty Ltd” was awarded the contract by the Hume City Council to design, construct and install a ‘FIFA 1 star’ synthetic soccer pitch at the John Ilhan Memorial reserve in Broadmeadows, Victoria. The design was based around a vertically draining graded crushed rock base and a 60mm pile height synthetic surface the met the needs of the ’FIFA AAA” performance criteria for soccer pitches, 1 star certification for sanctioned FIFA competition.

Area : Total Surfaced Area 9,360m2. Football pitch: 105m x 68m = 7,140m2; with six metre minimum run-off from both goal and touch lines. The pitch conforms to FIFA Standards.

Surface: Poligras MFL60 – a twisted polyethylene monofilament synthetic turf.
Infill: 23kg m3 of specially sized kiln dried sand and 8 kg m3 of recycled rubber have been installed in a patented process to provide a safe, low maintenance, high performance playing surface.
Shock pad: Not required.
Base: 200mm layer of selected aggregates.
Drainage: A lateral drainage system of 100mm pipes at 4m centres was installed across the field and discharged into 150mm collector drains at both sides of the field.
Fencing: Black powder coated pedestrian fencing 3.0m high with black PVC coated chain wire mesh fence around the perimeter of the field. A 1.2m high fence was installed on the western boundary alongside a concrete access path.
Lighting: Not included
Pathways: Reinforced concrete footpath around the perimeter of the field provides both access for the players and also a viewing platform for the spectators of the game.

Pitch certified to FIFA 1 STAR standard.
Capacity to be used during all weather conditions including its use for intensive training sessions during the week, whilst providing a high-performance facility for weekend competition.
Permanent goals complete with nets.
Tufted line markings.
In-ground sleeves fitted for corner flags.
